delete your account.
how · what goes · what is kept
You can delete your Imara account yourself, from inside the app, whichever way you use Imara. Nothing is removed for 30 days, so you can change your mind; then your account goes for good.
How, in the app
A tenant.
- Tap your photo at the top of any tab to open Settings.
- At the end of Settings, tap Delete your account.
- If something must be settled first, such as rent you owe or a deposit still held, the page says what.
- Read what you lose, tick I understand it is gone after 30 days, then tap Delete my account.
A landlord, an agent or a manager.
- Tap your photo at the top of any tab to open Settings.
- Under Imara, tap Privacy policy. Export everything there gives you a copy of your records first.
- At the end of that page, tap Delete my account. The page lists what must be settled first.
- When nothing stands in the way, tick the box and tap Delete my account. An agent or a manager leaves the team that day.
A caretaker, a guard or a cleaner.
- Tap your photo at the top of Home, then Settings at the top of your profile.
- At the end of Settings, tap Delete account.
- The page says what to settle first, such as a float or rent cash you still hold.
- Tick the box and tap Delete my account. You leave the team that day, and the account itself goes after 30 days.
A house hunter.
- Tap your photo at the top of Home, then Settings at the top of your profile.
- At the end of Settings, tap Delete account.
- If you found a home, Switch to tenant instead keeps your passport and your history.
- Otherwise tick the box and tap Delete my account.
A shop's owner.
- Tap your shop's photo at the top of Home, then Settings.
- Tap Privacy and your data. Download your data gives you a copy first.
- Tap Close your business account. Your page goes offline, and the account goes after 90 days.
Someone on a shop's team.
- Open Settings, then Privacy and your data.
- Tap Delete your account. It removes only your own account, never the shop. You leave the team that day.
Changed your mind? Sign in during the 30 days (90 for a shop's owner) and tap Keep my account. Leaving a team cannot be undone this way: the landlord or the shop's owner invites you again.
Without the app
Cannot open the app?
Write to hello@imarahomes.app from an address you can be reached at, with the phone number your account uses. Imara's team confirms that the account is yours before anything is done, then deletes it in the same way, with the same 30 days. Never send your sign in code.
What must be settled first
Nobody is deleted while something is owed either way.
The same list is checked when you ask and again on the day. If something still stands in the way on the day, nothing is removed: you are told why once, and it is tried again the next day.
- A tenant
- Rent owed, a notice still running, or a deposit the landlord still holds.
- A house hunter
- A holding deposit a landlord holds or owes back.
- Someone on a landlord's team
- A float or rent cash they still hold.
- Someone on a shop's team
- The shop's cash they hold, or an order on the way with them.
- A shop's owner
- Orders not finished, a refund not paid or a pickup still booked. A payout still on its way keeps the account until it lands.
- A landlord
- Anyone living in or signing for one of your homes, a deposit you hold, a payslip or a provider's invoice not paid, anyone still on your team, or a holding deposit at one of your buildings.
On the day
What is deleted.
- Your sign in, your profile, your phone number, your ID, your payment accounts, your notifications and your settings, and everything else that was only yours.
- Your own posts and comments on the neighbourhood feed. Where someone answered a comment of yours, the answer stays under "Deleted account".
- A landlord's adverts, building papers and photos, and their private notes on tenants. A building nobody ever lived in is deleted outright.
- A shop's page: its products, posts, photos, hours, private papers and the team's ID numbers. A shop that never took an order is deleted outright.
Chats with people are kept on their phones, not on Imara's servers, so they stay on the phones of the people you wrote to. Imara's servers only pass a message on and remove it once delivered (30 days at most).
What is kept, and for how long
Records other people rely on.
- Money records
- A receipt keeps who paid and who was paid; a tenancy keeps the tenant's name in the landlord's books; a payslip keeps the worker's and the employer's names; an order keeps the customer's first name. These belong to the other person's records too, so they stay.
- Signed papers
- A signed lease stays signed. A meter reading keeps the name of whoever read it, because a water bill rests on it.
- Messages in record chats
- Messages in a chat the building keeps (with management, the team, a building's channels, Imara, or about an order or a viewing) stay where others can read them, under the name they were written with.
- A landlord's books
- Kept for seven years for the tax authority, where nobody can open them, then removed.
- A building people lived in
- Stays on record with no owner, so each past tenant keeps their tenancy, bills and receipts.
- A closed shop that took orders
- Its orders, payments, refunds and Imara's invoices stay, as the customers' and Imara's money records.
- What Imara's staff did
- Imara's log of its staff's actions is kept for seven years, then removed.
- Your request
- Kept as proof that it was asked for and done, with nobody's name on it.
